Seattle Cafés Brewing Up Coffee and Kindness
Do-ers, Dreamers, and Adventure Seekers in Seattle have a rich history of giving back and giving big. From large to small businesses and everywhere in between, residents continue to share in memorable, philanthropic ways seen all around the Pacific Northwest.
In addition to giving, Seattle is regarded as the world center for Coffee Roasting. Our city’s prominent coffee culture is displayed with over 1,600 coffee shops. Among these coffee lover destinations, our town hosts a number of shops that serve up more than just a daily java fix. Here are a few locations that set an example of sharing philanthropy and kindness with every cup.
Coffee Shops that Strengthen our Communities
FareStart Café @2100
2100 24th Ave. South, Seattle, WA 98144
Not many coffee shops have a mission quite like this one. Funds from your enjoyable meal or coffee help students in FareStart’s Youth Barista Program. In partnership with YouthCare, this program helps students seek to better themselves and learn employment skills with on-the-job training at the café. Aquila Standard is also proud to support students in the program with Financial Coaching Workshops to assist them on their road to financial prosperity.

Mosaic Coffeehouse
4401 2nd Ave. NE, Seattle, WA 98105
Located on the quiet corner of 2nd Ave. NE and NE 44th St. in Wallingford, Mosaic Community Coffeehouse provides a welcoming space of intentional community. They aim to support families and groups alike whether they are enjoying coffee with their kiddos, meeting for book club, or need to set up shop to get some work done. Mosaic is donation-based; asking that you pay what you think is fair. Their commitment to empathy further shows with their pay-it-forward system, where you can pay for a token at checkout for someone in the future to use who may not be able to afford the cost of a drink or snack.
SEATTLE MEOWTROPOLITAN
1225 N. 45th St., Seattle WA 98103
Seattle Meowtropolitan combines coffee and cats to create a comfortable space for humans and cats alike. This cafe is recognized as Seattle's first cat cafe and partners with Regional Animal Shelters of King County (RASK) to provide "catpuccinos", community, and even cat adoption opportunities. Online purchases from their online store also go towards supporting their Meow for Meals program. With each sale made they donate a meal to a cat shelter, rescue, or feline-focused charity for every sale made.
Looking for more cat-friendly time? Neko Cafe on Capitol Hill also serves up coffee and partners with RASK to help find as many kitties a permanent homes as possible. Due to limited space during cat lounge hours both cafes recommend booking your pawsome visit ahead of time.
Street Bean Coffee Roasters
2711 3rd Ave., Seattle, WA 98121
Over 1,500 young people (ages 12-26) in King County spend each night without stable housing. Street Bean began its mission in 2009 to provide an opportunity for street-involved young people to discover and employ their gifts by serving coffee in our community. They strive to provide supportive employment training for the young people of Seattle. Young people need more than just a job to move beyond street life; they need the opportunity to form a new identity and the chance to discover who they are and can become.

Queen Bee tasty food & Cafe
2200 E. Madison St. B., Seattle, WA 98112
Queen Bee supports local charities that serve our community. Every quarter they select one neighbor not-for-profit to which to donate all their profits. As of August 2018 current partnerships include Planned Parenthood and the St. Anne School.
