Empowering young women with financial education
Our own Jasmine Jones, Business Development Specialist, will lead a free workshop called "You Got This" at the Young Women Empowered (Y-WE) Career Day on April 21, 2018. Jasmine will teach young women about the importance of financial literacy, basic skills that will help them become financially fit, and how smart money management now can help them achieve and sustain financial empowerment later in life. Jasmine will also share insights from her personal career path and how she found herself in a role she never predicted, but has turned out to be incredibly fulfilling.
The free, all-day event will feature skills workshops, career story panels, a resource fair, a raffle, and a keynote speech by Michelle Storms, Deputy Director of the ACLU Washington chapter. Programming is tailored for young women aged 13-18, but friends and family are welcome to attend.
If you know of young women that would benefit from this workshop, please consider registering them through the event site. Young Women Empowered's mission: "To empower young women from diverse backgrounds to step up as leaders in their schools, communities and the world. We do this through intergenerational mentorship, intercultural collaboration, and creative programs that equip girls with the confidence, resiliency, and leadership skills needed to achieve their goals and improve their communities." Jasmine's workshop is just one example of the many ways our staff provide financial education and literacy to the community. It is through these efforts that we help our community grow and prosper.
Way to go, Jasmine!
